It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Your Interactive Whiteboard Tools
Most of your interaction with your interactive whiteboard will involve using a number of tools with the display screen. You can use the basic tool set or the tools in preinstalled SMART Notebook software, which I cover in Part II. For the sake of simplicity, and so I don’t have to cover this set of tools when I tell you all about SMART Notebook, I introduce the tool set in this section.
It may help to think of your interactive whiteboard the same way you think of your mouse and keyboard. Your mouse and keyboard are necessary devices that enable you to control applications on your computer; the interactive whiteboard is a huge computer screen that you interact with in various ways.
In this section, I cover the SMART Tools menu and the functions those tools control. Knowing where to find the tools and understanding the basics about how they work is probably one of the most important aspects of using the interactive whiteboard. The best way to do this is to start playing with the tools.
The toolbars and menus
The SMART Tools menu gives you instant access to all the utilities that enable you to operate the interactive whiteboard. To access the SMART Tools menu, do the following:
