Knowing Where to Begin
To start using SMART Notebook software, just double-click the SMART Notebook icon on the desktop. You also can access the software from the Start menu (on a PC) or from the Dock (on a Mac), or you can launch it from the Floating Tools toolbar.
If this is the first time you’ve used the software, a tutorial opens. After the initial launch, a blank file opens when you launch the software, enabling you to create a new file or open an existing file.
Before you start opening files and playing with the software, I recommend that you first familiarize yourself with four basic sections of the application:
Page area
Tabs
Menu
Toolbar
Page area
The page area is your main workbench where you can display content from a selected page, create new content, and work with objects. Every time you open SMART Notebook, a single empty page will open for you to start working with. Figure 5-4 shows the main work area, the toolbar with the default page opened, and the sidebar, which lists your pages and allows you to sort them.
