Appendix C

Open Data Portals

Increasing numbers of governments across the world are making many of their datasets available online. The concept that government data should be accessible to everyone without limitation and be freely used, reused, and redistributed is called open data. In this appendix, I’ve assembled a relatively random list of open data links that represent almost every area of the planet. It includes open data for both countries and cities. I encourage you to explore many of them. It’s a great way to understand different cultures and regions. You’ll see what areas have in common and also where they differ. Depending on your interest, open data can provide a variety of value, ranging from satisfying simple curiously to leveraging data to build solutions.
