How to build great teams
David Brent, that famously clumsy oaf of a manager in The Office said: “You’ve seen how I react to people, make them feel good, make them think that anything’s possible. If I make them laugh along the way, sue me. And I don’t do it so they turn round and go ‘Thank you David for the opportunity, thank you for the wisdom, thank you for the laughs’.” The fictional leader of Wernham Hogg’s Slough office generally knew at least half of what made for great teams but would then trip over the other missing half. Yet one thing he’s right about here is that a significant element of building great teams is to make all members feel that they can achieve together, that anything is possible.
