Abstract
This chapter is dedicated to eddy-current displacement sensors (ECSs)—one of the most widely used measurement techniques in harsh environments. First, in Section 5.1, we briefly discuss ECS applications in industry. In Section 5.2, the operation principle, the limitations, and important design considerations of this type of sensor are surveyed.
