Smarter insight – off-menu assets

A number of investment types have been considered but excluded from the menu, in particular structured products, hedge funds, private equity and commodities, which are all currently receiving wide attention and investor focus. A few thoughts are provided on the main candidates. But in preparation for what you are about to read, take note of what David Swensen of the Yale Endowment has to say on the subject.
