The Enterprise Taxonomy

One important measure of SOA effectiveness is evidenced by the simplicity in which services are discovered and then reused to resolve a new servicing requirement. Prior to initiating a new service design effort, the service designer should first seek out other existing services to determine if they might resolve their new requirements. When an already existing service has been found, it is then validated to the new requirements, and, if acceptable, it is then reused, rather than designing and developing a new service.
