IT service and operations management

IT service and operations, or technical management is responsible for maintaining and proactively monitoring the technical infrastructure on which IT solutions run, and helping end users of the technical infrastructure (phones, laptops, devices, software, and so on). IT service and operations includes the following services and activities:

  • Maintenance of basic infrastructure such as connectivity and networking, storage, devices such as smart phones, laptops, desktops, and servers
  • Maintenance of office automation such as client machines for employees, mail, word processing, browsers, and so on
  • Maintenance of middleware on which applications run such as databases, message-oriented middleware, ESBs, and so on
