Central to the promise of social collaboration is changing how we work for the better. Otherwise, social collaboration is just social networking within the organization — truly “Facebook within my business” but nothing more. Thus, one of the most active frontiers in social collaboration is finding better ways to organize tasks and projects through the network.
In this chapter, I discuss several approaches to organizing work in a collaboration network, from relatively loose, social mechanisms to more structured ones that nevertheless take advantage of the social network.
