Business earns a profit while providing goods and services for the members of the society. It contributes to the growth of economy and provides employment and earning to the members of the society. However, profit maximization being the primary goal, business is not normally expected to focus on “social welfare.” Of course, this does not mean that business is completely devoid of playing any welfare role.
