11.1 Introduction
Electrolyte of sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) is Na+ conductor but electron insulator, which only allows Na+ ions transfer between cathodes and anodes. As one of the most important components, the electrolyte plays a great role on the performance of batteries, such as cycling stability, rate capability, temperature suitability, safety, etc. The chemical and electrochemical stability of electrolytes influence the electrochemical window, output voltage and cycling lifetime of SIBs.
