Windows Networking Model

We begin this chapter by looking at the Windows networking model. This model reflects the SOHO LAN hardware and the Windows XP software installed to build a LAN. Using Windows XP or any other Windows software, you can easily see the Windows networking model. In Windows XP we open the Start menu and select Control Panel. See Figure 2.1.

The Control Panel contains a Network Connections icon. When opened, this icon reveals the network connections panel. When a SOHO LAN is installed, it appears as a LAN or High-Speed Internet connection. See Figure 2.2.
