Installing and Configuring a Cable Modem/DSL Router
This chapter concludes with an examination of the installation and configuration of a cable modem/DSL router. The installation covers the hardware installation steps. Configuration involves setting up the router for operation with the Wide Area Network (WAN) high-speed Internet connection and the SOHO LAN private network connection.
Installing a Router
Router hardware installation is quite simple. It involves connecting the router with a 10-Mbps Ethernet connection to the cable modem or DSL connection, connecting the power, and connecting to the SOHO LAN private network. The physical connectors on a router are clearly labeled, as shown in Figure 5.16.
