ul — Underline Text on Terminal Display

Synopsis

/usr/bin/ul [-i][-t terminal][filename...] 

Description

ul reads the named file names (or the standard input if you specify no file names) and, using the environment variable TERM, determines how to translate underscores to the sequence that indicates underlining for your terminal. ul uses the /usr/share/lib/terminfo entry to determine the appropriate sequences for underlining. If the terminal is incapable of underlining but is capable of a standout mode, that mode is used instead. If the terminal can overstrike or handle underlining automatically, ul degenerates to cat(1). If the terminal cannot underline, underlining is ignored.
