MANAGEMENT INFORMATION BASE
The Management Information Base (MIB) is a hierarchical organization of objects used in SNMP. This organization is like a tree. Individual objects are leaves of the tree. Each object has an OID, which is a sequence of numbers separated by dot characters. As described earlier, you can determine the OID of an object by traversing the tree from the root node to the node that represents that object and noting the numbers associated with all the nodes along the way. The MIB is implemented as a data structure of tables and scalar objects in which values of these objects are stored for retrieval by the SNMP management station.
