automount — Install Automatic Mount Points

/usr/sbin/automount [-t duration][-v]

Description

The automount command installs autofs mount points and associates an automount map with each mount point. The automount command is run automatically at boot time by the /etc/rc2.d/S74autofs script. If you make changes to the automounting maps, you may want to run the command manually to update the automounter.

The autofs file-system monitors try to access directories within the file system and notify the automountd(1M) daemon. The daemon uses the map to locate a file system, which it then mounts at the point of reference within the autofs file system.
