route — Manually Manipulate the Routing Tables

Synopsis

/usr/sbin/route [-inet6][-fnvq] command [[modifiers] args]
/usr/sbin/route[-inet6][-fnvq] add | change | delete | get [host | net]
  destination [gateway [args]]
/usr/sbin/route [-inet6][-n] monitor
/usr/sbin/route [-inet6][-n] flush

Description

Use the route command to manually manipulate the network routing tables. These tables are normally maintained by the system routing daemon, by routed(1M), or through default routes and redirect messages from routers.

This command now operates on IPv4 and IPv6 routes. By default, route operates on IPv4 routes. If you use the option -inet6 on the command line immediately following the route command, operations are performed on IPv6 routes.
