Backup Strategies
A backup strategy is the procedure used to ensure that as much data as possible can be restored when a disk fails or data is accidentally deleted. There are a number of backup strategies, each one having different strengths and weaknesses. The main consideration of a backup strategy is typically time—that is, how long it takes to restore a file, set of files, a file system, or the entire system, as well as how long it takes to perform the backups that allow this type of restore capability. A secondary consideration is the amount of backup media required.
