Zone Files
In this section we'll create the zone files that will be used on both the master and slave servers that control our domain. First, let's look at the format that the zone files are based on, which is known as the Standard Resource Record Format (RR, for short).
Several RRs have been defined, but we'll only use a few more common ones here, some of which are shown in Table 16.4. As with everything in computing, this list is expanding. For example, there are now resources that allow you to embed geographic positioning data for each host and others that let you embed digital signatures in the zone files.
