Chapter 4. Network Monitoring Essentials
A great deal of content was covered in the previous chapters. We walked through installing an Orion NPM system, discussed network discovery, and added devices to our Orion NPM system. We are finally going to discuss using Orion NPM to actually monitor the performance of your network.
This chapter is actually one of the two parts. In part one, we are going to cover monitoring basics, customizing views, network device monitoring (such as routers and switches). In part two, we are going to focus directly on servers, virtualization, virtual storage area network (VSAN) monitoring, and customizing polling engines.
