Sherlock Holmes was interested in solving problems, but once he had deduced who or what was responsible for the crime, his interest rapidly faded.

He took no part in the tedious business of assembling witnesses, taking statements, bringing the suspect to trial, reaching a verdict, determining a sentence and carrying it out.

In fact you may have noticed that most police and crime dramas also skip this part. In many cases, the villain disappears from the scene in a dramatic manner and there’s no need for a trial at all.
