Appendix 4 Draft International Convention on the Removal of Hazardous Space Debris
Introduction
Attached is a draft proposal of an International Convention on the Removal of Hazardous Space Debris (and should be read in conjunction with Chapter 27). It is based on the wording of the Nairobi International Convention on Wrecks Removal of 2007.
The present Convention Draft proposal has been created considering a future scenario where the removal of “large” space debris is possible. It is proposed to determine in a separate annex the minimum size of space debris to be considered under the present convention, which will be updated with the development of removal technologies and best practices (not included here).
