Chapter 4. Physics Of Small-Scale Fading
This chapter addresses a subject that is too often overlooked in the analysis of small-scale radio channels: A radio channel must obey Maxwell’s equations for free-space propagation. People often use stochastic process theory - such as that presented in Chapter 3 - and apply it to arbitrarily constructed channel models. Such channel models do not necessarily represent realistic propagation and will yield deceptive and incorrect results when applied to problems in wireless communications.
