5. Creating Your Presentation
There are three things I think about when I actually build slides:
1. What do I need to say here—what do I want people to think, feel, and remember? Do I even need a slide?
2. How will this slide support that message while keeping attention on what I’m saying? I want people to pay attention to me, with the slide deck winning an Oscar for best supporting actor. People come to see the speaker, not their slides.
3. What should the slide look like? Presentation effects, like transitions or animations, are like salt in cooking—a little goes a long way, and too much will easily ruin the best dish.
