Importing Text Files
If the data you want to import into an Access table was developed in a word processor, database, or other application that cannot export the data as a .dbf, .wk?, or .xls file, you need to create a text file in one of the text formats supported by Access. (A text file is a file with data consisting of characters that you can read with a text editor, such as Windows Notepad or the DOS EDIT.COM text editor.) Most DOS- and Windows-compatible data files created from data in mainframe computers and files converted from nine-track magnetic tapes are text files, and Access imports these files in various formats.
