Installing the Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server
The members of Office 97, except Access 97, depend on 32-bit ODBC drivers for interoperability with Jet, dBASE, FoxPro, Paradox, and SQL Server databases, plus Excel and text files. Microsoft Query also uses ODBC to connect to the preceding data sources. Thus, Office 97 automatically installs the 32-bit ODBC 3.0 administrator application, called the ODBC Data Source Administrator, as a Control Panel tool when you choose the Typical or Custom Setup option.
