Pointing device features are also enhanced with the mobile user in mind. Switching between integrated pointing devices—track ball or clip-on mouse—to a desktop mouse (Plug and Play-compatible) is now automatically detected and enabled by Windows 95. Installing a serial, Plug and Play mouse amounts to plugging it in, and the system enables its use.
Like Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95 also adds a few special features that make it easier to see the cursor on a passive-matrix LCD panel, which many portable PCs use for their displays (active-matrix panels have much better image quality, and consequently it is much easier to see the cursor on an active-matrix LCD).
