Controlling Colors

Without color, all the drawing objects you create are merely outlines. Word enables you to choose from a full range of colors—including shades of gray—to fill your objects, change your borders, and modify your text. In addition, you can fill your shapes with multicolor gradient blends, preset textures, and even user-selectable pictures.

Caution

If you're working with a printer that can reproduce only grayscale, like most laser printers, be careful of using colors without enough contrast to reproduce well. A color you choose may work well on the screen but be unreadable or indistinguishable from others when printed. It's a good idea to always print a test copy when working with color.
