The inter-site replication topology is not created the same way as intra-site. Remember that in intra-site it is a bidirectional ring, whereas in inter-site replication it is referred to as a spanning tree model. An example appears in Figure 17.1.

This topology is largely affected by the manner in which you create the site links connecting the sites. So in comparison to the automatic nature of intra-site topology generation, the inter-site topology generation requires a little more manual intervention.
