It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The javax.naming Package
The javax.naming package (the main JNDI package) provides a standard set of classes and interfaces for accessing various types of naming and directory services. Like JDBC, JNDI is not an implementation by itself. It defines a standard set of interfaces for accessing the naming and directory services. You must also have a service-specific access library to access a particular service.
