Solaris—An Overview
The Solaris OS was originally designed with the intranet and the Internet in mind. Solaris, being a Unix system, incorporates all the power of Unix, reinforced with the expertise of Sun, which render it one of the most stable operating systems. Starting from the original SunOS, all subsequent versions of Solaris continued to incorporate additional features and at the same time maintained a considerable backward compatibility with their previous versions.
