Configuring the Master and Slave Servers
NIS+ provides a set of commands for configuring the master NIS+ server and the NIS+ slave servers, which are also referred to as NIS+ clients. In addition to the commands, you also can use the NIS+ scripts for easy and effective configuration.
An NIS+ server also can be treated as an NIS+ client. Before you set up a machine as a server, you must initialize it as an NIS+ client. This is true for all servers except for the root master server. Therefore, each server forms a part of a domain in addition to acting as a backbone of a domain.
