Understanding How Resource Overallocations Occur
A resource is overallocated when it is assigned to work more hours during a given time period than it has available for work on the project. The number of hours the resource has available for the project during any given time period is determined by two values that you define:
The units of the resource that are available during the time period— You can define time periods and units by double-clicking on a resource name in either the Assign Resources dialog box or the Resource Sheet table to display the Resource Information dialog.
