25 years ago, I would have loved to have stumbled upon this book.

In 1987, I started special effects makeup as a high-school hobby in Kyoto, Japan.

There was no Internet then and the only source of information was a lone Kyoto bookstore selling foreign books and magazines.

At that time, the few Japanese books published about special effects makeup were technically primitive and without the detail needed to manifest what I was seeing in my mind's eye. I found some books based on American and English movies and their artists, but these didn't have the precise technical information of this book you are reading now.
