The Race to Restart

The top tier of professional baseball in South Korea earned the distinction of becoming the first prominent sports league to restart its schedule and adapt to the global health crisis. The Korean Baseball Organization opened preseason competitions for the top ten professional teams on April 21 to prepare for the start of a regular season on May 5. That historic date was 38 days later than the originally scheduled opening day of March 28. Both the pre-season games and initial regular season games were presented as broadcast events with no spectators in attendance.
