Going for the Gold
At the age of 25, Canadian snowboarder Max Parrot earned a silver medal in the snowboard slopestyle competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Four years later, he won his first Olympic gold medal in the same event. The achievement was also Canada’s first gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. That was impressive enough, but Max Parrot’s extraordinary efforts to get on the podium again showed the Olympic spirit at its best. Parrot had battled lymphatic cancer the year after his Pyeongchang 2018 success and had to miss the entire 2018– 2019 season.
