SOA or service-oriented architecture has been proven popular in creating large-scale systems and integrating legacy systems with new and modern software. The market pushes SOA as one of the most cost-effective ways for building Enterprise Integration Systems (EIS) in a heterogeneous computing environment. This will be discussed further in Chapter 10, Social Task Management System (STMS). Interoperability has been the major reason why SOA has been preferred by many businesses in establishing communication between their new and old systems.
