Our ten gotchas serve as a checklist of potential causes of your SPSS woes. Some just waste your time, but others can both waste your time and ruin your analysis. Most of these issues are addressed in the book, but this chapter gives us one more chance to reinforce the importance of avoiding these common issues so you can efficiently use SPSS.
Some of these ten gotchas can be confusing at first. Others are straightforward, but new users might not attribute to them the importance they deserve. What they all have in common is that ignorance of them can get you into hot water. Whenever something seems to be amiss in SPSS, double-check this list. To earn its way onto this list, these gotchas must have generated hundreds of real-world problems as witnessed by us in our client interactions.
