Introduction

When you start writing web pages you generally begin with basic HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). You can write the HTML either directly or through a web page development program, but the net effect is that you get text-based code that your browser knows how to interpret. The biggest problem with HTML is that it can only be used to display static data. It cannot be used to extract data from a database.
