About two weeks into his new job, Joe’s boss asked if he’d like to meet Tom. Tom was the senior-most guy on the team. The boss, realizing Joe had a comparable amount of industry experience to Tom, thought they should get to know one another. Sounded good to Joe.
The boss walked Joe to Tom’s office and casually asked, “Hey, Tom, you got time to meet Joe?” Tom was sitting at his desk reading a book. He looked up and replied dismissively, “No, as a matter of fact I don’t,” and returned to his book without ever looking at Joe.
