Windows Server Administration for the DBA

In order to configure a SQL Server properly, you will need to understand the basics of Windows Server account management. Each service should run in the context of either a local Windows account or a Windows Domain (Active Directory) account. If you are not a Windows administrator (in that you do not belong to the local Administrators group or the Domain Admins group), you may need to solicit the help of someone who has the appropriate privileges. Either way, you'll need to know the appropriate settings for the user accounts used by the SQL Server services.
