Policy-Based Management (PBM)
Policy-Based Management (PBM) is also known as the Declarative Management Framework (DMF). You might say that PBM is implemented through the DMF. This all gets very interesting very quickly because Microsoft uses different terms for the technology depending on the certification exam objectives you're reading. In the TS exam (also knows as the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance exam number 70–432) objectives, Microsoft asks you to implement the DMF. The objective may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Create a policy
- Verify a policy
- Schedule a policy compliance check
- Enforce a policy
- Create a condition
