Auditing SQL Server Activity
While the Windows servers on which SQL Server 2008 run can implement auditing, SQL Server also supports internal auditing. The auditing can be accomplished using traditional methods, such as DDL triggers, or new methods in SQL Server 2008, such as audits and logon triggers. Notifications can also be configured so that SQL trace events or DDL triggers have a method for notifying administrative personnel. The following sections address these various methods and the steps required to implement them.
