Implementing Database Snapshots
Database snapshots provide point-in-time data recovery and analysis. They do not provide for standby database access in that the original database must be available, as the data set is built partly from the snapshot files and partly from the original database files. This behavior will become clearer as you read through this section. Database snapshots are useful for recovering from data entry or data processing errors, and they are also beneficial for data reporting.
