The light plot or lighting layout is a scaled drafting of an environment (top view) that illustrates critical information related to a lighting design. Light plots are used in entertainment lighting, while lighting layouts are used in permanent installations like themed and exhibit designs as well as architectural projects. The light plot and lighting layout can be compared to a road map where every luminaire is placed in a location directly related to where it will be hung in the installation.
