Jill’s Communication Skills Exercise

 

 

I have some exercises that I have my college classes do that I also used when I guest lectured at Marshall Fundamental High School in Pasadena. They are all based on real incidents. Students draw one slip from the SM pile and one from the actor pile. All they know about the situation is what’s on their piece of paper. Students with matching numbers get in front of the class and act out the issue, with the goal being resolution, whether in favor of the SM or the actor. Some should be obvious “no” answers, some are “of course” and some are really up to a judgment call.
