Working with Basic Functions

As already mentioned, the functions you use most often will depend on the types of calculations you need to make in your spreadsheets. There are, however, certain functions that seem to be used more often than others. Table 6.2 lists some of the most commonly used functions.

Function	Description
SUM	=SUM(cell range) Adds the cells referenced in the function.
AVERAGE	=AVERAGE(cell range) Calculates the statistical mean or average for the range of numbers.
COUNT	=COUNT(cell range) Counts the cells in a specified range.
MAX	=MAX(cell range) Returns the maximum (largest) value in the specified range of cells.
MIN	=MIN(cell range) Returns the minimum (smallest) value in the specified range ...
