Chapter 12. Soldering
Soldering is introduced as the concept that changes all the theory of electronics into something practical. Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are covered as the means whereby components are physically held and soldered into their circuit. Solder itself: its composition and evolution over the years is discussed, and the reader is led to understand why it has evolved from being made of the pure metal lead, to a modern equivalent having no lead at all in it. The restriction on the use of hazardous substances (RoHS) regulations are considered.
