Appendix II: Guide for UsingMicrosoft Excel in This Textbook

(Based on version 2003)

The most often used tools in this statistics textbook are the development of graphs and the built-in functions of the Microsoft Excel program. To use either of these you simply click on the graph icon, or the object function of the toolbar in the Excel spreadsheet as shown in Figure E-1. The following sections give more information on their use. Note in these sections the words shown in italics correspond exactly to the headings used in the Excel screens but these may not always be the same terms as used in this textbook. For example, Excel refers to chart type, whereas in the text I call them graphs.
