Appendix 5.2 Using JMP for Probability Distributions and Plots

Computing Binomial Probabilities

You can use JMP to compute binomial probabilities. Referring to the example in Section 5.4 in which n = 3 and p = 0.9, you compute binomial probabilities as follows:

  1. Open a new JMP data table.

  2. Select ColsNew Column.

  3. Select the Column Properties button. Select Formula from the pop-up menu.

  4. In the dialog box that appears (see Figure A5.6), select ProbabilityBinomial Probability.
